Light and Silence: A New Approach to Office Design

Chi-Ling Yeh and Chia-Sheng Jen's Award-Winning Office Design Combines Nature and Aesthetics

The designers drew their inspiration from the idea of creating a pleasant and comforting atmosphere in a rectangular 3-dimension space. They used a variety of materials with penetrative characteristics to create an unlimited visual effect in the expansive office space. The result is a working environment that is distinct from the typically serious and self-restraint elements found in most offices.

Upon entering the office, visitors are greeted by marble walls with delicate grains, a wooden ceiling in composed colors, and a dark floor. The company logo is displayed on a contemporary-style sculpture in front of the main wall, accompanied by a greenery plant wall and yellow light from ceiling lamps on both sides of the main entrance. These natural elements create a warm and silent atmosphere that is both inviting and calming.

The main reception area, designed with the idea of publicity in mind, preserves the original tall characteristics of the space and expands the scale of the reception area. This design allows VIPs to feel comfortable while appreciating the great urban view in three different directions.

The office, which is located at the center of the business area in metropolitan Taichung City, Taiwan, was completed in February 2015. It covers an area of 726 square meters and is filled with abundant and diversified greenery plants. The variations of lights and shadows, along with the indoor space that is passing through, hidden and isolated, provide a sense of tranquility and inspire creativity.

Chi-Ling Yeh and Chia-Sheng Jen's innovative design approach has not only created a unique and comfortable working environment, but also earned them the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2017. This award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. "Light and Silence" is indeed a testament to their exceptional design skills and creativity.
